HOW TO SHOP FOR SHI(F)T

Why? Because we give a --------->f

The shopping guide to healthier fashion for any budget (YEP, we did change the name) purpose is:

- Introduce better shopping habits, helpful resources, and an understanding of what clothes are made of

- Enable shoppers to ask important questions like, How do my clothes affect the health of my family and myself, the people who make my clothes, and the world that we live in?

- Provide an introduction to fashion-related pollution problems, by spotlighting chemicals used and waste created in the making of a garment

- Teach shoppers what to look for, where to find it and how to use their newfound knowledge to influence the fashion industry

- Offer tools and terms for shoppers to share the exciting things they’ve learned

- Empower shoppers to #MakeShiftHappen

Are you curious about what may be lurking in the fabric that you put on your body?

Do you or someone you know have a skin condition, migraines, or cancer?

Do you feel empathy, concern or passion for soil, water, air, animals, people? Do you have a curiosity to find out how your fashion choices are able to have a positive affect on each of these things?

Are you a mom or dad that shops for your family? Do you read nutrition labels? Do you seek healthy products?

Do you think about the ingredients in your clothes the way you think about the ingredients in your food?

How to Shop for Shi(f)t
will introduce new ways to relate to what you put on your body and the impact it has on your health
!

HOW TO THINK BEYOND
THE LABEL

"What's in my tee?"

Beyond the Label (BtL) started as a partnership with TEDxLA to educate Angelenos about the true social, environmental, and health cost of their fashion purchases.

BtL is now a charitable organization that addresses the question “What's in my tee?”

to encourage shoppers to consider what their T-shirt is made of…
...and how their purchases affect the world, workers and themselves.
